Napoli – aka Pompeii II

If you all know William, then you can understand that going to Napoli would have to include a slice of pizza.  After all Naples is where pizza originated.

Yesterday I posted that in Pompei everything  was untouched and you could even see the art work on the walls.  And that was true as my photo’s showed but we found out that the really good art uncovered at Pompeii is actually housed here at the National Museum in Napoli.
All I can say is WOW!   Art over 2000 years old – unbelievable!  Most are fresco’s while others are mosaics.

(Note* There may be some X-rated art so proceed with forewarning)

This is just a very small sample of what we saw today.  There was room after room after room of artwork from Pompeii on display at the Museum.
And that’s not to mention the vast number of sculptures on display too.  Here are a few of our favorites:

This is Homer

This is  Athena

This is Julius Caesar

These are Bronze Sculptures.

Around every corner down every hall there were hundreds of sculptures.   I lost William at one point in the museum but found him here and he said he couldn’t figure out what everyone was laughing about.

Just Anoter Fabulous Day in Southern Italy.

We are on our way to Firenze (Florence) tomorrow and will continue to share our Leeward Travel adventures.

So real Italian pizza is thick? My favorite! No thin and crispy for me!

    1. The crust was so delicious. There was only sauce and just a tad of mozzarella on it. Napoli is the only place we have found pizza with a thicker crust. In Rome we had a fabulous pizza baked in a brick oven but it was on a thin crust.
