Today Marianna and the kids went with us to the Black Forest.
Our agenda for the day:
- Ride the rodelbahn
- Tour the glass blowing shop
- Find the best Black Forest cake
- Look at the Cuckoo Clocks
- Do the Treetop Walk to view the woodlands of the Black Forest
Our First stop was to see the glass blowers at Dorotheenhutle Wolfach. They are the last glass works in the Black Forest who still manufacture mouth blown glass. We were able to watch the glass artists at work and shop for a piece of our own to take home. I found a beautiful wine glass I will enjoy using at home.
Our next stop was the German roller coaster – the Rodelbahn. Needless to say the kids were super excited at this stop. But to tell the truth, so were we!
Ok we had a ton of fun here but the day was young and we still had lots to do so we were off to find CAKE!
Triberg Village was the place for cake and cuckoo clocks.
As you can see we had a really fun family day but what I’ll remember most is the Treetop Walk. The wooden walkway is 1250 meters long and 20 meters high with the highlight being the 40 meter high archeturally unique viewing tower from the highest point in the forest. Notice the center of the tower too – that’s a slide to ride down to the bottom
And while all of this was amazing what happened at the top is what I’ll remember the most. The kids- Caleb, Kennedy and Zoie decided we needed to do an impromptu photo shoot. I’ll post just a few but believe me we must have spent an hour up at the top just letting the kids pose for pictures before we all took the SLIDE down.
