For the last couple of days we have been staying in the coolest little Airbnb outside of Stuttgart, Germany. We have the whole ground floor of this Timber House in Renninger. The hosts, Brandie and Dan are absolutely awesome.
We came back to Stuttgart to return our Rental Car so we decided to tour a little of the area. First day here we took a day trip to Heidelberg which you have already read about. Then our next thought was to visit the Mercedes Benz factory but when we tried to get tickets they said their next available tour was a month away. Then we decided to do the Porsche factory tour but it too was booked several weeks out. Our next option was to visit the Porsche Museum. Tickets were only 8 euro and very easy to get.
Needless to say, William was extremely excited but I also enjoyed the museum. They had a driving simulator which William loved.
And both of us had to get our pics “driving” them.
These are the founders of Porsche – Ferdinand and Ferry Porsche.
This is the first Porsche auto – an electric car that won a 40K race in Berlin in 1898.
Here is a motor driven axel.
This is one of the early motors that made Porsche such a fast race car.
This very iconic car was designed by Porsche. It was to be a car that all German people could own. Today it is simply known as the “Beetle”
And Porsche also designed these.
However, these are a few of the cars that William really came to see.
These are a few of the racing Porsche!
And of course no visit to the Porsche Museum would be complete without seeing “Sally” Carrera, the fictional character in the Pixar computer animated movie, Cars.
We enjoyed the day very much but are looking forward to moving on from Stuttgart to Switzerland. We have 6 days left in Europe and hope to relax a bit in Switzerland at Lake Constance before heading back to Paris and our flight home to the US.
I didn’t know Porche designed the Bettle. Cool! Can’t wait to see Lake Constance!
